Officials said three people were hurt in the fire at the Temecula resort, the contractor who sustained burn injuries and two people who were treated for smoke inhalation. The statement said he had received injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The contractor was the only person inside the elevator during the fire, Pechanga said in a statement Tuesday. Though the cause of the elevator fire at Pechanga Resort & Casino on Monday remained under investigation, casino officials determined the blaze erupted as a contractor was working on maintenance in an elevator shaft, the resort said Tuesday, June 4.
